You can always go down the ‘joke present’ route with a lime green Mankini, novelty cufflinks or giant beer glass but – let’s be honest – they’ll soon end up gathering dust in the back of a cupboard.
This Father’s Day why not do something different and give him the gift of an experience he’ll never forget? From breakfast in bed to a mini-makeover of his man cave, there’s something to suit every Dad… and every budget. Here are a few of our favourite ideas.
1. Gourmet food or fine wine or beer.
If Dad’s a bit of a foodie or a beer or wine enthusiast, he’ll love a special selection of his favourite treats. And it’s easy to arrange home delivery for a special surprise on Father’s Day.
2. Memberships and subscriptions.
If your Dad enjoys a particular newspaper or magazine, why not get him a subscription for print or online? Or if you want to splash the cash, you could even treat him to membership of his local sports club or health spa.
**3. Fun experiences.
**From a Formula 1 car driving experience to a gliding lesson, help the Old Man tick something off his Bucket List. And he’ll enjoy it even more if you do it with him.
4. Vouchers and tickets.
Give him restaurant or cinema vouchers or tickets to his favourite band, comedian, sports event or festival.
5. Practical help.
Don’t underestimate the value of offering your Dad practical help. Perhaps you could you mow his lawn, cook him a meal or do some errands or DIY for him – then he can put his feet up and relax.
**6. Upgrade his man cave.
**If your Dad’s lucky enough to have a ‘man cave’ (anything from a study or den to that shed at the bottom of the garden) there’s plenty of stylish pieces of furniture and accessories that could help turn it from a messy retreat into a stylish relaxation space. From the fabulously luxurious Windham leather chair worthy of an exclusive gentleman’s club to the uber-cool James Bond Aston Martin framed picture, you’re sure to find something he’ll love.
7. **Make some memories.
**Sometimes all a Dad really wants is to spend quality time with the family – a simple meal, a walk or just relaxing in the garden. Remember to take some photos, you can always frame the best one as his birthday present!
