The Sealy story

In 1881, one Daniel Haynes from the small town of Sealy, Texas made a cotton-filled mattress for a neighbour. It proved to be a great success and, before long, more friends and neighbours approached him to make them similar mattresses. Ever resourceful and to cope with growing demand, Daniel invested a machine to compress cotton for his mattress. The fame of his comfortable, cotton-filled mattresses spread and soon everyone was talking about the "mattress from Sealy".

Today, Sealy makes beautiful beds all over the world. Our factory in the UK is located in Aspatria, Cumbria, where we produce some of the very best and most innovative beds, mattresses and headboards.
