In this look, the palette is key. “Green invites you to slow down,” says Jenny. “It’s perfect for creating a sanctuary-like space.” Zone the room with different hues to create a tapestry of calm. Sage and moss green work beautifully together, while pairing paler shades with deeper greens gives your space depth. Jenny’s top tip? “Pepper olive and lime green throughout to add texture and don’t be afraid to play with contrast.”
Nestle oak furniture among the shades of green to weave a natural warmth into your space. “What makes this look feel so inviting is its use of oak,” explains Jenny. From bedside tables to desks, oak’s golden grain enhances the earthiness of the palette and balances out the coolness of green. “Oak panelling and flooring are a great way to introduce this traditional wood to your space,” explains Jenny.
Infuse serenity into your space through small style notes. “Greenery and plants bring the natural world inside and connect the look back to its inspiration,” explains Jenny. Small pot plants and trailing vines work well, but any plants will do. And if you don’t fancy the upkeep of real plants, our range of artificial plants look just as lovely. Elsewhere, introduce calming accents like a himalayan salt lamp or zen garden to bring calm and tranquility to your space.
It’s not all about the zen. “This look oozes cosiness too,” says Jenny. Think soft scatter cushions, unstructured linens and a recliner sofa with invitingly comfortable seats. Plush rugs and tactile fabrics like velvet and chenille turn up the cosy levels even more, bringing homely comfort to a look inspired by the great outdoors.
Nod to vintage style with mid-century silhouettes and décor. “Mix classic shapes with rich and detailed finishes,” suggests Jenny. A ribbed sideboard or coffee table while quilted dining chairs and fluted lamps add sculptural interest. Vintage-style artwork and organic ceramic vases bring character and stop the look from feeling too polished.
