How to create a minimaluxe 5* hotel bedroom look

Welcome to the art of the unfussy five-star bedroom. Minimaluxe describes the growing trend for elevated, minimalist interiors that whisper luxury rather than scream it. Think clean lines, a neutral colour palette and curated decor that blends comfort with elegance. Here’s Jenny Simmons, our Home Design Studio stylist, on how you can use it to create a retreat-worthy bedroom in just a few steps.

Drift off on hotel-quality bed linen - Egyptian cotton wardrobe close up

One of the most luxurious things about staying at any five-star hotel is slipping between luxuriously soft sheets and drifting off. “To recreate this feeling at home, invest in some hotel-quality bed linen like Egyptian cotton or organic percale,” suggests Jenny. “They’re breathable, soft and age beautifully.” Pair your linen with luxury pillows that offer the right support and comfort for your body. A layered duvet and throw will complete your look and elevate your bedroom into a hotel-worthy space.

Invest in a luxury mattress - bed shot

When it comes to how to make your bedroom look like a 5-star hotel, your bed is the best place to start. Five-star hotels are known for their deeply comfortable beds, and luxury British-made mattresses from heritage brands like Hypnos and Vispring are the perfect choice to give yourself hotel-quality sleep every night. They’re known for combining traditional craftsmanship with the finest natural materials to create a sumptuously comfortable sleeping surface that makes you feel weightless. Pair with a beautifully upholstered divan to bring a minimaluxe touch to your sleeping area.

Choose a calming colour scheme - dressing table shot

A signature style note of minimaluxe interior design is its serene and neutral palette. “Use soft mushroom greys, warm beiges and muted taupes to evoke a sense of tranquility that feels soothing and restful,” explains Jenny. These hues create the perfect environment for unwinding at the end of a long day. A minimalist dressing table in white is the perfect morning sanctuary spot - whether you like to follow a beauty routine or repeat positive affirmations. Remember to keep your palette cohesive as that’s what will keep your bedroom feeling harmonious.

Treat yourself to breakfast in bed - tray on bed shot

One of the easiest ways to make your bedroom feel more luxurious? Treat yourself to breakfast in bed. “Style a tray with your favourite coffee mug, a freshly prepared breakfast and a flower in a vase,” suggests Jenny. “It’s a small act of self-care you can do on the weekends to make your bedroom feel that little bit more indulgent.”

Find a signature scent

Infuse your bedroom with a calming scent to help you drift off at night. Look for candles, reed diffusers or pillow sprays with notes of lavender, sandalwood or bergamot. “Not only are these scents calming, but they also create a sensory ritual that can help you relax and unwind before bed. That’s what minimaluxe interior design is all about - intentional luxury and comfort,” explains Jenny.

Stay clutter free - wardrobe shot open and closed shot

As the saying goes, a tidy room is a tidy mind, and a well-chosen wardrobe can help your bedroom remain a sleep sanctuary (even if you do have a lot of clothes)! ‘One of the key tenets of minimaluxe bedroom design is simplicity, so look for a contemporary design with sliding doors that looks neat and unfussy,” Jenny tells us. Built-in storage compartments, drawers and shelves will maximise your space and hide away your belongings, keeping your room beautifully clutter-free - just like a hotel room.

Choose minimaluxe accents

Even the most minimalist minimaluxe bedroom needs a few finishing touches. “Play with different types of accessories,” advises Jenny. A sculptural lamp, statement ceramic vase or textured rug can instantly elevate your styling and bring a sense of refined luxury to your space that feels curated rather than over-the-top. “The trick is to leave space between objects so everything feels calm and considered. Less really is more here.”
