The Sealy story

In 1881 an American cotton gin builder called Daniel Haynes built a cotton filled mattress for a neighbour. His mattresses were soon so much in demand he invented and patented a machine to compress cotton. In 1906, he sold his patents to a Texas Company that took the name of Sealy, which grew to become the world number one bed brand. Sealy UK has been based in Cumbria since 1974.

With over 100 years’ experience, Sealy are one of the biggest bed brands, with a reputation that reaches around the world. Currently based in the UK, they are industry leaders in creating beautifully designed beds, with their customers’ needs at the heart of what they do.
