Cleaning tips

Cleaning tips

Lacquered, high-gloss and veneer finishes are easy to care for as they already have had a durable and practical coating applied to them. Simply dust daily and wipe occasionally with a damp cloth, and then dry with a soft, lint-free duster to remove any finger marks. Avoid using abrasive cleaners as these can scratch surfaces.
What you should know

What you should know

Lacquered, high-gloss and veneer finishes can change colour if they’re continually exposed to light so make sure you move any lamps or ornaments around, and keep your table or cabinet in a low light area, where possible. You might consider keeping the curtains drawn when the room is not in use. Also, it’s a good idea to leave your dining table fully extended if possible, or expose the leaves to similar light levels, to avoid colour differences between the leaves and the rest of the table top.

Protect foil and laminate finishes

Foil and laminate finishes, whilst durable, are not heat-resistant or heat-proof. We recommend using coasters and placemats at all times.

Clean polyurethane with care

Polyurethane (plastic) and similar surfaces can reveal the polishing process in the form of small scratches. Avoid abrasive cleaners and direct sunlight. Simply wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a soft, lint-free duster.

Leave extending tables extended

Extending dining tables should be left extended for the first few months to avoid uneven appearance.

Be safe!

Never move or carry an extending table while the extension leaves are in use – always return the table to its unextended position first. And remember that inserting or removing the extra leaves of an extending table is a two-person job. To prevent injury and property damage from unexpected tipping of furniture, we highly recommend installation of anti-tip kits, if supplied with your furniture and for any piece of furniture over 600mm in height. As hardware may loosen overtime, periodically check that all connections are tight, and re-tighten as necessary.
