Fabric Recliner Sofas

It’s official. A fabric recliner sofa is just more comfortable. Whether you opt for manual or power recliners, our fabric recliner sofas let you sit back and put your feet up in true relaxed style. Even better, many of our most popular fabric sofas are available as fabric recliner sofas so if you’ve found a sofa look you love, you’ll likely be able to order it with built-in recliners.

Now we may be biased, but we strongly recommend that if possible you opt for a recliner sofa. And we’d like to explain why.

Why should I choose a fabric recliner sofa?

There's nothing quite like relaxing on a fabric recliner sofa. Specially designed to help you find your perfect relaxed position – feet up, back comfortably angled, every part of you nicely supported – our fabric recliner sofas are supremely functional and extremely stylish. They’re also a good choice for family rooms – simply choose a larger 3-seater recliner sofa or corner recliner sofa to ensure everyone can relax in style.

Choosing the right fabric recliner sofa

Start shopping and you’ll quickly discover that there are plenty of fabric recliner sofas out there. At Furniture Village you’ll find over a hundred different options so your main challenge might be narrowing the field. Start by thinking about the kind of recliner mechanism you prefer. Most fabric recliner sofas fall into one of two types - manual recliners and power recliners. Manual recliners are the original recliner type. To operate, you simply use your body weight to push back into the fabric recliner settee. This engages the recliner mechanism - tipping you back and often raising a footrest. Manual recliners tend to be the more affordable option, and because you don’t need to plug them into an electrical socket, you really can place them anywhere. Power recliners generally have a more advanced mechanism which often allows you to precisely tune the angle of recline on your fabric recliner sofa. Other than pushing a button, you really don’t have to do anything even slightly active. Simply wait for your fabric recliner settee to recline to your perfect position. Do remember that power recliners must be positioned close to an electrical socket. One extra advantage - many power recliners also come with a USB port or two so you can charge your smartphone, tablet or laptop while you're relaxing and call it multi-tasking! Things to consider before you buy a fabric recliner couch

Other than mechanism, your main consideration is sofa size. There are many fabric recliner sofa styles that come in a range of sizes, so wanting a larger or smaller fabric recliner sofa shouldn’t restrict your choice. At Furniture Village we have a wide selection of all kinds of fabric recliner sofas from more compact 2-seater fabric recliner sofas to large and sprawl-worthy corner fabric recliner sofas. To narrow the fabric recliner sofa field further, you’ll find it useful to have an idea of sofa style and colour. While many of our reclining sofas fall within the modern sofa category and have wide arms, lower backs and an overall contemporary silhouette, you’ll still find plenty of more traditional models which put the emphasis on head, neck and lumbar support. Our G Plan sofa range is a great place to start if you’re looking for a fabric recliner sofa with a more traditional feel. Our fabric recliner sofas also come in every colour. For a modern neutral, we recommend grey fabric recliner sofas - on trend but easy to live with and easy to coordinate with your existing furniture and soft furnishings. Not afraid to make a bold designer move? Try a red fabric recliner sofa. And if you’re looking for a colour that’ll definitely stand the test of time, there’s nothing more classic than a brown fabric recliner sofa. If you need help as you make your decision on which fabric recliner settee would be best suited to you, be sure to take a look at our sofa and armchair buying guide. As the title suggests, it's full of information about sofas and armchairs, and is designed to help you ask yourself all the right questions to ensure that you choose a fabric recliner sofa that you really love.

What if a fabric recliner couch isn’t right for me?

Love the idea of a reclining sofa but not sold on fabric upholstery? Take a look at our leather recliner sofas - same functionality as our fabric recliner sofas, available in a huge choice of styles, and all with beautiful soft leather upholstery. Leather is surprisingly durable and tends to look better with age - it wears in and gets even softer - so even if you have a rambunctious family, leather might still be right for you. Our leather sofas also come in a wide choice of colours, so alongside classic black and brown leather sofas you’ll find leather recliner sofas in bright and bold shades like red and blue as well as on-trend neutrals like grey and cream. There’s more about leather types and grades in the leather section of our sofa and armchair buying guide. If you’re still undecided on whether a fabric recliner couch is right for you, explore our collection of 2-seater sofas and 3-seater sofas available in luxurious styles, colours, and fabrics. Whether you’re creating a cosy corner to settle down in, or entertaining guests during the day, there’s something to suit every need. For larger households, a 4-seater sofas might be the best option for you. Available in a range of styles including traditional leather sofas, and contemporary, our sleek sofa options could be another great alternative to a fabric recliner couch.

Add the finishing touches to your fabric recliner couch

Comfy living room seating is a necessity, and there needs to be enough to go round. We gently suggest that you don’t skimp on your sofas and armchairs: if you have a big family, invest in a big fabric recliner sofa and make sure everybody is comfortably seated with a reclining armchair or two. If your living room is an awkward shape, a couple of sofas and a pair of armchairs will get the job done. Footstools and accent chairs make great extra seating and can be pushed neatly against the wall when not in use. Once you’ve settled on a fabric recliner sofa and your other seating choices, the rest of the furniture tends to fall into place. Most families and living rooms need a coffee table for storage and to create a focal point in the room. And, if nothing else, you’ll have somewhere to put the remote controls. If you need closed storage that will complement your fabric recliner settee, browse our sideboards (they’re not just for dining rooms, you know). To display books, ornaments and framed photos, think about a bookshelf or curio cabinet. Make things cosy with rugs and soft furnishings - in larger spaces, they help to mute sound and a wool rug always feels lovely underfoot.

Caring for your new fabric recliner sofa
