Think pink: pink bedroom ideas

Say goodbye to dull decor and hello to our favourite pink bedroom ideas.

If you’re currently imagining a room decked out top-to-bottom in violent fuschia, don’t worry. “Pink is actually the most romantic of all the colours,” explains Shelley. From delicate rose to burnt peach, there’s a beautiful array of softer shades that will infuse your bedroom with charm and warmth.

“Pinks often have warm undertones which creates a real feeling of cosiness in the bedroom,” says Shelley. “Just add a few scatter cushions or perhaps a statement accent chair to make things snug and cosy.”

Top tip: Don’t forget to temper pink’s sweetness with a neutral like cream or grey.

The power couple: grey and pink bedroom ideas

Looking for something that feels a little more grown-up? Enter the grey and pink bedroom. This subtle colour combo elevates any bedroom thanks to its unique combination of sugary sweetness and refined sophistication.

“It’s all about balance. A luxe grey bed with pink walls feels much more glam than a wooden bed frame with just a few pink and grey touches throughout,” says Shelley. “You can really play around with the intensity of these two shades to create the perfect look for you."

For a more relaxed ambience, don’t feel you have to reach for your paintbrush either. “A grey and pink bedroom idea can be as easy as adding a couple of simple pieces like a pink linen bed sheet or lamp,” advises Shelley.

Seaside chic: blue bedroom ideas

Imagine coming home after a long day at work and retreating to a tranquil idyll of rest and relaxation… Luckily, that’s exactly what our blue bedroom ideas are for.

“Blue is the go-to shade if you’re looking for peace and tranquility,” explains Shelley. Known for its psychologically restorative and calming effect, its the perfect choice for those who want a magazine-worthy interior that takes nodding off a little easier.

Start with a statement blue bed and accessorise with muted tones like taupe, beige and mocha.

“Darker blues like navy and teal can sometimes feel quite oppressive, so feel free to lighten things up with strategically placed pops of warm woods, mirrors or, if you’re feeling bold, a sunny yellow or mustard,” advises Shelley.

Back to basics: white bedroom ideas

Fans of minimalism will love our white bedroom ideas. These stripped-back looks deliver serenity, simplicity and serious style kudos too.

“A white bedroom is the perfect antidote to our busy, technicolour-filled world,” explains Shelley. “Shades like porcelain and ivory calm your nervous system and give your brain a much-needed break from visual noise.”

With white, you have two options: go all-out and make everything white (from the furniture to the floors) or you can use it to mellow out bolder colour schemes. “I personally love the all-white aesthetic because it’s so clean and chic,” says Shelley.

“If you’re worried about your bedroom feeling too clinical in all-white, a few well-placed accessories in chrome, wood or ceramic will help add depth and dimension to your space.”

Dim the lights: dark bedroom ideas

Popular in boutique hotels, industrial lofts and period homes alike, darker colours exude atmosphere and drama.

“If you have a taste for opulent furnishings, a dark bedroom idea should be at the top of your list,” says Shelley. “Deep colours like burgundy, forest green and midnight blue have a powerful intensity that complements the richness of luxury fabrics like velvet and chenille very well.”

First stop, your bed. “A statement headboard or luxury divan in a bold colour like plum or emerald will really wake up your bedroom decor,” says Shelley. Exposed brickwork and smokey grey feature walls are firm favourites too.

Don’t forget to infuse your space with colour in places you might not think of at first like doorways, floors and ceilings.

Keep it calm: neutral bedroom ideas

If colour in the bedroom feels a little too much (after all, statement shades aren’t for everyone) we’d suggest opting for neutral bedroom decor.

“Subtle colours like beige, taupe and cream bring a sense of calm to our sleep spaces,” explains Shelley. “When your bedroom invites you to unwind, you’re already half-way there.”

Ground your bedroom with lovingly crafted solid oak pieces from Ercol and introduce plenty of natural light and foliage. Look to the comforting shades of natural materials like marble, rattan and linen too.

“Remember that neutral bedroom ideas don’t have to feel boring. Use unique silhouettes - think ceramic trinkets or a statement chandelier - to help you put your own stamp on things,” advises Shelley.
