Small Screen, Big Interior Style!

Inspiration & trends

Whether educating us, informing us or simply entertaining us, TV is a big part of our lives. It’s also a big influence on the way we design our living spaces. From colour trends to furniture styles, your favourite TV shows are the perfect places to pick and choose a brand-new look for your home. Here’s some of our favourite small screen, big style shows.

Wolf Hall
Wolf Hall

The critics are going crazy for Wolf Hall but we’re far more interested in that gorgeous Tudor décor. The huge fireplaces and wood panelling have given us a veritable swathe of home decorating ideas, my lady. So while Cromwell is busy negotiating the machinations of Henry’s court, we’re coveting the decorative cushions, oak dining tables and velvet armchairs.

House of Cards
House of Cards

The life of a contemporary, power-mad politician has never looked so stylish. With House of Card’s modern take on classic wood furniture, natural textiles and elegant neutrals, this is one look that definitely earns our vote. That’s why we’re stealing home inspiration from every solid wood bookcase, elegantly-upholstered wingback chair and stylishly low coffee table.

Friends
Friends

With Friends like these, who doesn’t love the look of the 1990s? Bold colours, mix-and-match textiles and overstuffed sofas make for a timeless style that instantly feels like home. Create it in your own place with interior design ideas like a rustic coffee table, a contemporary rug and, of course, a large 4 seater sofa with enough room for all your friends too.

Mad Men
Mad Men

Sterling Cooper & Partners may be facing the final curtain later this year but we’re confident that Mad Men’s gorgeous, richly-observed style of the 1960s will continue to live on (in our homes, at least). Turns out that it’s actually the tufted fabric sofas, unusual table lamps and leather swivel chairs that really make us swoon. (Sorry, Don).

New Girl
New Girl

The New Girl is just so sweet and charming that we’re sure if we adopt her eclectic, vintage home decor style, we’ll soon be enjoying the same carefree and madcap existence. It’s worth a try and that’s why we’re investing in some funky cushions, a vintage leather armchair and a set of cool living room shelves. And maybe a floral frock or two.
