Style guides

We’re constantly striving to provide you with a range of imaginative, inspiring and high quality furniture and our latest Rug Collection is no exception. Our Buying team have worked hard to bring you a collection that is a celebration of pattern and colour, with timeless and classic designs plus the very latest styles – which we are constantly adding to! Most of our rugs are made in the UK, made with natural materials and come in a range of different sizes.

The right rug has the power to transform a room and define your space. It’s important to choose one that complements your room in the right size that works for your furniture and the layout of the whole area. So here at Furniture Village we’ve rounded together a few of our favourites and added a few tips on how to look after it and sizing considerations.

Geometric designs

If you’ve wanted to work the popular geometric look in your home then a rug is an easy way to do it. Add this statement item into a minimalist interior design and watch the room come alive. Keep colours co-ordinated and you’ll have an updated new look in no time.

The Nordic Rug is a bold geometric design available in pink and grey and not for the faint-hearted! If geometric cubes aren’t your thing, the Mirage Rug provides an optical delight for the eyes and looks as good as it feels. It’s woven from a mixture of bamboo silk and viscose making it both smooth underfoot and hard-wearing.

Vibrant colours

Rugs are the easiest accessory to add to the home to create instant interest. Vibrant colours ensure the room’s character is always cheery and bright.

We love the Peacock Rug, available as a round or rectangle shape. Inspired by the tail feathers of a peacock, the explosion of pattern and colour come together to form an exquisite design that your guests won’t fail to notice!

Colourful rugs create a dramatic space for entertaining and our Paradise Rug, made out of 100% wool, looks like a kaleidoscope of colour which is available in four colourways. Each rug has a variety of tones which are a great way to mix and match with other furniture pieces. Tip: Make sure your guests have enough room to pull out their chairs on the rug when sliding out from the table.

Contemporary cool

If you love to keep things contemporary then the Plaza Bamboo Silk Rug is a great choice. Or why not contrast with traditional oak furniture pieces to give your room a contemporary twist?

The Serenity Wool Rug is also a great choice for contemporary spaces. Available in three sizes, the 110 x 60 will look great in small spaces which need a calming yet colourful addition.

Shabby chic

Shabby Chic has never been so fashionable and according to Ebay, shabby chic was the most searched for term in homes and gardens this summer. This style is all about creating a cosy, worn and informal look and we think the Atlantic Rug (available in Teal or Grey) is one way to go about it. Its distressed, two-tone effect is achieved by layering faded colour over a neutral background.

Keep it cosy

Nothing says welcome home quite like a soft rug. They also work well in bedrooms when used as a perimeter around your bed. Solid colours work best and the Velvet Crush Rug looks subtle and inviting.

Rug love

The easiest way to keep your rugs looking brand-new is by vacuuming them every other week. It will prevent dirt and grit filtering into the pile and keep your rug looking fabulous!

If, shock, horror there is anything spilt on them, the key is to act quickly! Grab a clean cloth and simply blot the stain and dry working from the outside. Do not rub! Dab with carpet cleaner until the stain is removed. This could take a few goes depending on the severity. For best results always read the care instructions given to you with your rug.
