At Furniture Village, we are always looking for fun ways to support a worthy cause, and this month we have teamed up with UK charity Anthony Nolan (www.anthonynolan.org) on their ‘Sofa of Change’ initiative.

A recent study by Halifax Savings revealed that an estimated total of £42.9 million pounds has been found down the backs of UK sofas, and as such, Furniture Village is appealing for customers to donate any spare change that may or may not have been retrieved from beneath the cushions of their sofa!

From next week, each of our 39 branches will have sofa-shaped collection boxes next to the complimentary refreshment area, and customers are invited to make a donation to the pioneering charity whilst enjoying tea, coffee and cookies in store.

Anthony Nolan helps to save the lives of people suffering with blood cancer who need a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant, and each day, the charity enables two people in need of a lifesaving transplant to find matching donors by using the Anthony Nolan register. Peter Harrison, Chairman of Furniture Village has been a trustee of Anthony Nolan since 2007, and the company is pleased to support the life-altering work carried out by the charity. It costs the charity £100 to recruit each potential donor to the register, and the money dropped into our Sofa of Change collection boxes will help them to continue their incredibly important work.
