Garden style

Style guides

We’re a proud nation of gardeners and we can’t wait for the first rays of sunshine to peep out from behind the clouds so we can get the shorts on, get out in the garden, and stretch out with a cold drink in hand. The weather men say we’re in for another scorcher so now’s the time for new garden furniture like chairs and tables, outdoor lighting and patio rugs. Get out there and make the most of your garden this summer.

City garden: now and Zen

Make a small garden feel spacious by choosing compact plants, like succulents and cacti,

and contemporary garden furniture that’s compact and geometric in shape, like cube garden furniture. Modular pieces made of hard-wearing rattan are perfect, and if your patio isn’t quite perfect, use a garden rug to cover it in style.

Town garden

Town garden: beautifully functional

If your garden is big enough for entertaining then think of it as an extra room and furnish it beautifully. A large metal garden table and chairs set makes for easy al fresco dining for family and friends, and don’t forget a large garden umbrella for when the sun cream runs out. And if you’ve got the space you can create multiple relaxation zones with garden sun loungers and other outdoor garden furniture.

Country garden: blooming lovely

A floral garden can be beautifully complemented by the vintage look of wrought-iron bistro garden furniture that never goes out of style. Smaller garden table and chair sets don’t need a lot of space and turn a flower garden into a magical place where colour runs riot and trees blossom. Add the finishing touch with unusual pieces like Victorian-inspired lighting, curved arbours and ornamental benches.
